Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination (SCRA), 2010

The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) will hold the Special Class Railway Apprentices’ Examination (SCRA), 2010 on 19/12/2010 for recruitment to the Special Class Apprentices in the Mechanical Department of Indian Railways.
Eligibility:
  • Age : Not less than 17 years and not more than 21 years as on 1st August, 2010. The upper age is relaxable for SC/ST/OBC and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice.
  • Educational Qualification: Must have passes in the first or second division, The intermediate or an equivalent examination (10+2) of a University /Board approved by the Government of India with Mathematics and at least one of the subjects Physics and Chemistry as subjects of the examination.
  • Physical Standards: Candidates must be physically fit according to the Regulations given in notice.
Application Form: The candidates must apply in the Common Application Form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/ Post offices throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- only.
Fee: Rs.50/- through Central Recruitment Fee Stamp only for the candidates applyin through Offline method (SC/ST/PH/Female candidates are exempted from payment (OBC candidates required to pay full fee)). Those applying thru Online method, required to pay Rs.25/- in any branch of SBI by cash or by using Netbanking facility of SBI or by using Visa/ Master Credit/Debit Card.
How To Apply: All applications must reach the “Controller of Examinations, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi-110069” either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by courier on or before the 27/09/2010. (04/10/2010 for the candidates from far-flung areas/ abroad)

Staff Selection Commission invites online and offline applications for the following posts through a Combined Higher Secondary Level  Examination 2010 :

Selection by : Selection is on the basis of a single tier examination on 31/10/2010 with two stage i.e. written examination (Multiple Choice Objective Type) and skill test in data entry/typing on computer at prescribed speed (which will be qualifying in nature). Fee: Rs. 100/-. No fee for SC/ST/PH/Women and Ex-Serviceman. F.No.11/5/2009-E.1(B) : The Union Public Service Commission will hold a Written Examination on 24th October, 2010 for recruitment of Assistant Commandants (Group A) in the Central Police Forces (CPF) viz. Border Security Force (BSF), Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF), Central Industrial Security Force (CISF), Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) and Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB). The Examination will be held in accordance with the Rules for the Examination published by Ministry of Home Affairs in the Gazette of India dated 29th May, 2010 . The date of holding the examination as mentioned above is liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission.

1. CANDIDATES TO ENSURE THEIR ELIGIBILITY FOR THE EXAMINATION:

The candidates applying for the examination should ensure that they fulfill all eligibility conditions for admission to the Examination. Their admission at all the stages of the examination will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
Mere issue of admission certificate to the candidates will not imply that his/her candidature has been finally cleared by the commission.
Commission take up verification of eligibility conditions with reference to original documents only after the candidate has qualified for Interview/Personality Test.

2. How to apply:

(a) Candidates who wish to apply Offline must apply in the Common Application form devised by the Commission for its examinations, which can be purchased from the designated Head Post Offices/Post Offices (specified in Appendix III of the Notice) throughout the country against cash payment of Rs. 20/- (Rupees Twenty only). Each such Form can be used only once and only for one examination.

In case of any difficulty in obtaining Application Forms from the designated HPOs/POs, the candidates should immediately contact the concerned post Master or UPSC’s “FORMS SUPPLY MONITORING CELL” over Telephone No. 011-23389366/FAX No. 011-23387310.

(b) Candidates can also apply Online using the link http://www.upsconline.nic.in. Detailed instructions for filling up online applications are available on the above mentioned website.

Candidates are advised to read carefully the “Instructions for filling up the Offline Application Form”given in Appendix-II (A) and Instructions for Online Applications given in Appendix II (B) of this notice.

3. LAST DATE FOR RECEIPT OF APPLICATIONS :

(a) Offline:

All offline applications must reach the “Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, Dholpur House, Shahjahan Road, New Delhi – 110069″ either by hand or by Post/Speed Post or by Courier, on or before the 28th June 2010.

Candidates should note that applications will be received by hand, only one at a time, at the designated counter(s) and not in bulk, till 5 PM only.

However, in respect of candidates residing abroad or in certain remote localities specified in para 6 of this Notice the last date for receipt of application by Post/Speed Post only (not by Hand or by Courier) is 5th July 2010.

(a) Online:

The online Applications can be filled upto 21st June 2010 till 11.59 PM after which the link will be disabled.

4. PENALTY FOR WRONG ANSWERS:

Candidates should note that there will be penalty (Negative Marking) for wrong answers marked by a candidate in the Objective Type Question Papers.

5. FACILITATION COUNTER FOR GUIDANCE OF CANDIDATES :
In case of any guidance/information/clarification regarding their applications, candidature etc. candidates can contact UPSC�s Facilitation Counter near Gate �C� of its campus in person or over Telephone No. 011-23385271 /011-23381125 /011-23098543 on working days between 10.00 hrs. and 17.00 hrs.

6. Mobile Phone Not Allowed:

(a) Mobile phones, pagers or any other communication devices are not allowed inside the premises where the examination is being conducted. Any infringement of these instructions shall entail disciplinary action including ban from future examinations.

(b) Candidates are advised in their own interest not to bring any of the banned items including mobile phones/pagers to the venue of the examination, as arrangement for safekeeping can not be assured.

7. Candidates are advised not to bring any valuables/costly items to the Examination Halls, as safe keeping of the same cannot be assured. Commission will not be responsible for any loss in this regard.

The Centres as mentioned above are liable to be changed at the discretion of the Commission. While every effort will be made to allot the candidates to the Centre of their choice for the Examination, the Commission may, at their discretion allot a different Centre to a candidate, when circumstances so warrant. Candidates admitted to the Examination will be informed of the timetable and place or places of Examination.

The candidates should note that no request for change of Centre would normally be granted. However, when a candidate desires a change in Centre from the one he/she had indicated in his/her Application Form for the Examination, he/she must send a letter addressed to the Secretary, Union Public Service Commission, giving full justification as to why he/she desires a change in centre. Such requests will be considered on merits but requests received in the Commission�s Office after 28th July, 2010 will not be entertained under any circumstances nor will such communications be replied to.

3. ELIGIBILITY CONDITIONS :

(I) Nationality : No person who is not a citizen of India shall, except with the consent of the Central Government signified in writing be appointed or employed under these Rules.

Provided that nothing contained in these rules shall debar the appointment, enrolment or employment of a subject of Nepal or Bhutan under these rules.

(II) Sex : Both Male and Female candidates are eligible for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants in CRPF and CISF. However, for appointment to the post of Assistant Commandants in BSF, ITBP and SSB, only Male candidates are eligible.

“Explanation – A female, candidate, even if her name is there in the list of successful candidates as declared by UPSC, may not be appointed if she does not get allocated to CRPF or CISF on the basis of merit and choice indicated by successful candidates.”

(III) Age Limits :

(a) A candidate must have attained the age of 20 years and must not have attained the age of 25 years on 1st August, 2010 , i.e. he/she must have been born not earlier than 2nd August, 1985 and not later than 1st August, 1990 .

(b) The upper age limit prescribed above will be relaxable.

(i) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate belongs to a Scheduled Caste or a Scheduled Tribe.

(ii) upto a maximum of three years in the case of candidates belonging to Other Backward Classes who are eligible to avail of reservation applicable to such candidates.

(iii) upto a maximum of five years for Civilian Central Government Servants in accordance with the existing instructions of the Central Government. Ex-servicemen will also be eligible for this relaxation. However the total relaxation claimed on account of Government Service will be limited to 5 years.

(iv) upto a maximum of five years if a candidate had ordinarily been domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir during the period from 1st January, 1980 to the 31st day of December, 1989.

Note I : Candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes and the Scheduled Tribes and the Other Backward Classes who are also covered under any other clause of Para 3(III)(b) above, viz. those coming under the category of Civilian Central Government Servants/ Ex-servicemen and persons domiciled in the State of Jammu & Kashmir, will be eligible for grant of cumulative age-relaxation under both the categories.

Note II : The term ex-servicemen will apply to the persons who are defined as ex-servicemen in the Ex-servicemen (Re-employment in Civil Services and Posts) Rules, 1979, as amended from time to time.

Note III : The term “Civilian Central Government Servants” in Para 3 (III)(b)(iii) above will apply to persons who are defined as “Government Servants” in the Central Civil Services (Classification, Control and Appeal) Rules, 1965 as amended from time to time.

SAVE AS PROVIDED ABOVE THE AGE LIMITS PRESCRIBED CAN IN NO CASE BE RELAXED.

The date of birth accepted by the Commission is that entered in the Matriculation or Secondary School Leaving Certificate or in a certificate recognised by an Indian University as equivalent to Matriculation or in an extract from a Register of Matriculates maintained by a University, which extract must be certified by the proper authority of the University or in the Higher Secondary or an equivalent examination certificate.

No other document relating to age like horoscopes, affidavits, birth extracts from Municipal Corporation, service records and the like will be accepted.

The expression Matriculation/Secondary Examination Certificate in this part of the instructions includes the alternative certificates mentioned above.

NOTE 1 : Candidates should note that once a Date of Birth has been claimed by them and entered in the records of the Commission for the purpose of admission to an Examination, no change will be allowed subsequently (or at any other Examination of the Commission) on any grounds whatsoever.

NOTE 2 : The candidate should exercise due care while entering their Date of Birth in Column 8 of the Application Form for the Examination. If on verification at any subsequent stage, any variation is found in their Date of Birth from the one entered in their Matriculation or equivalent Examination Certificate, disciplinary action will be taken by the Commission under the Rules.

IV Minimum Educational Qualifications : A candidate must hold a Bachelor�s degree of a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or other educational institutions established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed as a University under Section-3 of the University Grants Commission Act, 1956 or posses an equivalent qualification.

NOTE 1 : Candidates who have appeared at an examination the passing of which would render them educationally qualified for the Commission�s examination but have not been informed of the results as also the candidates who intend to appear at such a qualifying examination in the year 2010 will also be eligible for admission to the examination. Such candidates will be admitted to the examination if otherwise eligible but the admission would be deemed to be provisional and subject to cancellation if they do not produce proof of having passed the requisite examination along with the Detailed Application Form which will be required to be submitted to the Commission by the candidates who after qualifying on the result of the written part of the examination are also declared qualified in the Physical Standards/Physical Efficiency Tests and Medical Standards Tests.

NOTE II : In exceptional cases the Union Public Service Commission may treat a candidate who has not any of the foregoing qualifications as a qualified candidate, provided that he/she has passed an examination conducted by the other Institutions, the standard of which in the opinion of the Commission justifies his/her admission to the examination.

NOTE III : Candidates possessing professional and technical qualifications which are recognised by Government as equivalent to professional and technical degree would also be eligible for admission to the examination.

IES/ISS Examination 2010 to start from December 4

The Union Public Service Commission will hold the Indian Economic Service/Indian Statistical Service Examination (IES/ISS), 2010 from 4th December 2010 for recruitment to Grade IV of the Indian Economic Service and Indian Statistical Service. The examination will be held at various centers across the country.

For details regarding eligibility conditions, the syllabus and scheme of the examination, centers of examination, guidelines for filling up application form etc. aspirants must consult the detailed notice of the examination published in the employment News/Rozgar Samachar dated 05th June, 2010.

The minimum age for the candidates is 21 years and the maximum 30 years as on 1st January 2010. The upper age limit is relaxable for Scheduled Casters/Scheduled Tribes/Other Backward Classes/Physically Handicapped and certain other categories of candidates to the extent specified in the Notice. A candidate for the Indian Economic Service must have obtained a Post-Graduate degree in Economics/Applied Economics/Business Economics/econometrics and a candidate for the Indian Statistical Service must have obtained a Post-graduate degree in Statistics/Mathematical Statistics/Applied Statistics from a recognized University.

ENGINEERING SERVICES EXAMINATION 2010 : VENUE INFORMATION

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Engineering Services Examination, 2010 at 392 venues located in 42 centres throughout the country commencing from 26th June, 2010 (Saturday).     Admission Certificates to the candidates have been dispatched. Letters of rejection to the applicants who do not comply with the various essential conditions of the examination have also been issued. If any applicant has not received any of the above mentioned communications, he/she may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23385271, 011-23381125 or 011-23098543 between 10 A.M. to 5 P.M. on all working days. INDIAN FOREST SERVICE EXAMINATION, 2010

The Union Public Service Commission will be conducting the Indian Forest Service Examination 2010 at 41 Centres throughout the country commencing on 10th July, 2010 (Saturday). Admission Certificates to the candidates have been dispatched. Letters of rejection to the candidates stating reason(s) for rejection have also been issued. If any applicant has not received any of the above communications, he/she may contact UPSC Facilitation Counter on Telephone Nos. 011-23381125, 011-23385271 and 011-23098543 between 10 A.M to 5 P.M. on all working days. The candidates may also send fax messages on Fax No. 011-23387310.

Information on venues of the examination is also available at Union Public Service Commission’s Website www.upsc.gov.in. The candidates who have not received the Admission Certificates may download the “Venue Information” from the above mentioned website and use it for appearing in the examination. The candidates intending to appear in the examination using downloaded “Venue Information” are advised to reach the venue of their examination on the day of examination. Such candidates are also advised to carry two photographs, otherwise they may not be allowed to take the examination. They may also carry proof of identity such as Identity Card, Election Identity Card, Driving License etc.
